Scholarships Opportunities:

Dear Fellow Educators, Parents, and Students,

NJIDA offers The Lois Rothschild Scholarships to seniors with dyslexia who are pursuing a post-high school full-time course of study at an accredited college, university, trade school, or other educational institution. We are asking you to share this information with students, teachers, high school guidance, Child Study Teams and families.

The Lois Rothschild Scholarships range from $1,000 – $10,000 and are awarded to students with dyslexia who meet the following requirements:

  •  NJ resident
  • ‘Can Do Mindset’
  • Perseverance in the face of obstacles
  • Letter of recommendation from high school teacher, guidance counselor, or CST member
  • Plan to attend two or four-year higher education, or trade school
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75
  • Submit a 250 word essay entitled “Dyslexia and Me: A Look at its Impact”        

Your “Dyslexia and Me: A Look at its Impact”  essay should include :

  • A descriptive explanation of your journey with Dyslexia. What is your story?
  • Strategies/efforts that have helped you overcome the challenges you have been faced with due to Dyslexia
  • How have you been shaped by Dyslexia?  What specific strengths have you discovered about yourself? 
  • How are you looking to take what you’ve learned about yourself on your journey with Dyslexia into your post-secondary plans? What do you want others to know about you or learn from your story?

  1. Send copy of the student’s  transcript to njida@msn.com
  2. High school teacher, guidance counselor, or CST member provides a letter of recommendation describing the student’s specific strengths and struggles with dyslexia, as well as efforts which shaped the student. This must be sent directly from the high school teacher, guidance counselor, or CST member to njida@msn.com
  3. All requirements (Google Form, Student Essay, Transcript, and Letter of Recommendation) must be submitted by Monday, June 3, 2024. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail by Friday June 21, 2024)
